MUBIL held the inaugural meeting of its Advisory Committee on 2 July. This strategic body will help shape the future of smart and sustainable mobility in the Basque Country. This first session marks the launch of a new phase of collaboration between leading companies and key institutions, united in their commitment to developing innovative, forward-looking solutions to the challenges facing the mobility sector.

This working group is composed of representatives from leading companies within the industrial and energy ecosystem: Iosu Ibarbia, General Director of Technology at CAF; Imanol Rego, CEO of Irizar; Eduardo Lobato, Head of Mobility Innovation at Iberdrola; Antton Tomasena, General Director of Esergui; José Ignacio Zudaire, Director of Energy Transition at Petronor; Manu Ayerdi, Director of Strategic Projects at Mondragon Corporation; and José Ignacio Hormaeche, General Director of the Basque Energy Cluster. Joining them are Igor Villarreal, General Director of MUBIL, and Unai Andueza, President of MUBIL and Deputy for Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects at the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.

The Committee will meet twice a year, with its primary mission being to collaborate on defining action plans and strategies that accelerate the development of more efficient, smart, and sustainable mobility. Additionally, it aims to ensure that MUBIL’s evolution remains aligned with the sector’s real priorities through an open, participative, and collaborative approach.

During this inaugural session, MUBIL presented its 2028 Strategic Plan, an ambitious roadmap aimed at establishing MUBIL as a European leader in sustainable mobility. The plan is structured around three main pillars: transforming the region into an innovation hub, integrating into a global knowledge network, and strengthening the centre’s operational excellence.

Furthermore, MUBIL’s distinctive position in Europe was highlighted, thanks to its cutting-edge infrastructure, specialised laboratories, and a comprehensive range of key services for the ecosystem, from product validation and entrepreneurship support to talent attraction, promoting synergies, and encouraging public-private collaboration.
