MUBIL launches the call for entries for its sustainable mobility awards

The MUBIL Mobility Awards, launched in the Basque Country (northern Spain), have opened applications for their sixth edition, consolidating their position as an international platform for identifying and accelerating innovative solutions in smart and sustainable mobility.

MMA Call for projects

The submission period will remain open until 19 June and is aimed at startups and technology projects from around the world working in areas such as electric, connected, autonomous and shared mobility, as well as the development of advanced infrastructure.

In the previous edition, 61 initiatives from 27 countries took part, reflecting the growing international interest in these awards. Since their creation, the awards have received more than 200 projects, nearly one third of them international, highlighting their global reach and their contribution to the development of cleaner, more efficient and more connected mobility solutions.

Aimed at technology-driven initiatives, the awards seek solutions in areas such as electric, connected, autonomous and shared mobility, as well as the development of advanced infrastructure. Their objective is to foster innovation and accelerate solutions capable of making a real impact on the transition towards more efficient and sustainable mobility models.

The winning projects will be announced on 22 October at a final event to be held in San Sebastian (Gipuzkoa), where €16,500 in direct prizes will be awarded, along with an additional €18,500 in funding for the development of the solutions in collaboration with specialised technology partners.
Beyond the financial support, the selected projects will gain access to a one-year support programme within MUBIL’s innovation environment, including dedicated workspace, international visibility and connections with companies, technology centres and public institutions from the Basque advanced mobility ecosystem. Specifically, they will receive a workspace for 12 months at the MUBIL Center, as well as visibility in specialised media.

The awards also include a featured presence at the MUBIL Mobility Expo, one of Europe’s leading professional events in the sector, further strengthening the international visibility of the selected projects.

In the previous edition, the winning projects were the Spanish startups ESEA Propulsion, specialised in cutting-edge electric propulsion systems for the marine sector, and Floatech, developer of ultra-fast batteries with silicon anodes. In the specific case of ESEA Propulsion, the award represented a significant boost for its development, enabling the company to unlock new opportunities within the Basque ecosystem. Over the past year, the company has collaborated with leading technology partners such as Tecnalia and Battera, and has relocated its headquarters to the MUBIL Center, further strengthening its integration into an environment that fosters innovation, collaboration and industrial growth.
