The MUBIL Mobility Awards 2025 strengthen their international scope with a record number of project submissions

The fifth edition confirms the growth of the MUBIL Mobility Awards, with the number of participants increasing by 9% compared to 2024 at the close of the registration period.

The MUBIL Mobility Awards 2025 confirm their status as a leading platform for innovation in smart and sustainable mobility on an international scale. The fifth edition closed with 61 projects registered, 9% more than last year. Of these, 27 (44%, 17% more than the previous year) are international, 7 come from the Basque Country, and 27 from the rest of Spain. The figures reflect the growing international presence that the awards are demonstrating.

Specifically, of the 27 international projects vying to reach the final stage of the MUBIL Mobility Awards 2025, 21 are European (mostly from France, Germany, and Italy), five come from Africa (Kenya (2), Mozambique, Malawi, and Côte d’Ivoire), and one from Israel, reflecting a greater geographical diversity among the participants.

Projects wishing to take part in the MUBIL Mobility Awards must fall within one or more of the following categories: electric mobility, connected mobility, autonomous mobility, shared mobility, and related infrastructure. As in previous editions, projects focusing on connected mobility and associated infrastructure have been the most prevalent this year.

Over the course of the five editions of these awards, MUBIL has received a total of 212 technology-driven projects, which were evaluated by the technical committee and selected to form the finalist groups.

The finalists competing in the final stage of the awards will be announced on 25 September. Representatives of each selected project will be required to present their work to the jury, who will be responsible for choosing the two winners for 2025.

The two winning projects will share a total of €16,500 in prizes, as well as receive a further €18,500 in funding to support the development of their proposals in partnership with local mobility ecosystem stakeholders.

The awards will be presented on 23 October at an event marking the close of this fifth edition. In addition to the financial prize, the winners will receive a 12-month workspace at the MUBIL Center, coverage in specialist media, and prominent exposure at the MUBIL Mobility Expo, one of Europe’s leading professional gatherings.

MUBIL, promoted by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council as part of its Etorkizuna Eraikiz strategy, and supported by the Basque Government and the Basque Energy Agency (EVE), fosters public-private collaboration, research, entrepreneurship, and technological development.
