The MUBIL Mobility Awards continue to gain international recognition with a four-fold increase in the participation of foreign companies
The fourth edition confirms the growth of the MUBIL Mobility Awards, since at the close of the registration period the general number of participants had increased by 53% compared to 2023.
- On this occasion, 8 projects from BAC, 24 from the rest of Spain and 23 international projects have been registered. The finalists will be announced on 26 September and the winners will be announced at the final event on 24 October.
- The first and second place winners will share 16,500 euros in prizes, plus a further 18,500 euros in funding for the winning projects to be developed in collaboration with agents of the Basque smart and sustainable mobility ecosystem.
The MUBIL Mobility Awards 2024 have closed the nomination period with a remarkable growth. In its fourth edition, a 53% increase in overall participation has been achieved compared to 2023, but above all, the fact that international projects have increased by 188% compared to the last edition stands out.
The foreign countries with the greatest participation have been Italy, France and Germany, and in total 23 international projects have been received from 14 different countries. At the same time, 8 works from the BAC and Navarra and another 24 from the rest of Spain have been registered. In this case, the communities with the most projects submitted were Madrid, Catalonia and the Valencian Community.
The finalists will be announced on 26 September, while this year's winners will be announced at the final event on 24 October which will be led for the fourth consecutive year by Antonella Broglia, an international reference in the field of social innovation. During the event, the finalists will present to the public how their initiatives can change the mobility of the future. And beforehand, in the morning, they will have defended their projects before the jury.
The first and second projects will share 16,500 euros in prize money, plus a further 18,500 euros in funding for the winning projects to be developed in collaboration with agents from the Basque smart and sustainable mobility ecosystem. In addition, they will have the possibility to be part of the MUBIL Hub, a work space for 12 months, as well as to obtain diffusion and the opportunity to have their own stand at MUBIL Mobility Expo, a professional meeting point which is a reference at European level in the sustainable mobility industry.
On this occasion the jury will be made up of, among other experts, Carolina Rodríguez Arias, Head of Promotion at ENISA; Jokin Lopetegi, Head of Corporate Development and New Business at CAF; Marisa Arriola, Managing director of BIC Gipuzkoa; Martí Massot, Head of Urban Development at EIT Urban Mobility Innovation hub South; and Noshin Omar, founder and president of ABEE Group.
MUBIL, which brings together the efforts of public and private agents that promote initiatives regarding smart and sustainable mobility in the Basque Country, was created within the Etorkizuna Eraikiz initiative of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and has the support of the Basque Government and the EVE (Basque Energy Entity). Its main lines of action include collaboration between agents, knowledge management, technological infrastructure and entrepreneurship. In addition, MUBIL's definitive headquarters in Donostia-San Sebastián will soon be up and running, which will house 10,000m2 of technologically cutting-edge facilities and testing laboratories, as well as having a further 38,000m2 in the surrounding area where initiatives by other agents such as CEIT, CIDETEC, TECNALIA, VICOMTECH and the City Science Lab Gipuzkoa project in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab group will be set up.
