On 23 October, during the final event, the two winning projects will be announced. They will share €16,500 in prize money plus an additional €18,500 in funding to further develop their projects in collaboration with stakeholders of the Basque smart and sustainable mobility ecosystem.

The fifth edition confirms the growth of the MUBIL Mobility Awards, with entries increasing by 9% compared to 2024.

The MUBIL Mobility Awards 2025 have now revealed their five finalist projects. In its fifth edition, the competition has consolidated its international scope and its role as a leading platform for innovation in smart and sustainable mobility.

The selected projects are: BATTERY WATCHDOG – WEAVAIR (Poland), a company offering an AI-based battery health monitoring and predictive management system for electric vehicles; ELU MOBILITY (Germany), focused on making electric freight transport profitable; and three Spanish initiatives: ESEA PROPULSION (Mahón), developing cutting-edge electric propulsion systems for the marine sector; FLOATECH (Getafe), which provides silicon foil for the next generation of lithium-ion batteries, enabling greater range and ultra-fast charging for e-mobility; and HYDROS POWER (Alicante), developing hydrogen-based technologies to decarbonise sectors where batteries are not a viable option.

The technical committee reviewed 61 entries: 27 international projects, 7 from the Basque Country, and 27 from the rest of Spain. From these, the five finalists were selected, all aligned with the strategic areas of the awards: electric, connected, autonomous and shared mobility, and associated infrastructure.

The figures highlight the international growth of the awards. Of the 27 international projects, 21 came from Europe (mostly France, Germany and Italy) and six from Africa (5) and Asia (1).

This year’s jury includes Xabier Pérez (Head of Technological Innovation Strategy at CAF), Marisa Arriola (Managing Director at BIC Gipuzkoa), and Imanol Rego (CEO of Irizar Group), together with experts such as Daniel Pérez (CEO & Co-founder of Zunder), Jim Ahtes (Mobility Working Group Coordinator at Gaia-X Spain) and Sergi Milán (Innovation Advisory Officer at EIT Urban Mobility).

The final event will take place on 23 October

These annual awards, organised by MUBIL for smart and sustainable mobility start-ups, pursue a dual objective: to identify and showcase innovative projects shaping the sector’s future, and to connect them with Basque ecosystem stakeholders in order to jointly promote technological development and solutions to the major challenges of tomorrow’s mobility.

The representatives of the five finalist projects will pitch their proposals to the jury on 23 October at the final event, hosted once again by international social innovation expert Antonella Broglia. During the session, finalists will present how their solutions can transform the future of mobility, and the two winners of this edition will be announced.

The first and second place winners will share €16,500 in prize money, plus €18,500 in funding to further develop their proposals in collaboration with local ecosystem stakeholders. In addition, they will join the MUBIL Hub, gain access to a workspace at the MUBIL Center, and have the opportunity to present their initiative at the next MUBIL Mobility Expo (25–26 March 2026, Ficoba–Irun), one of Europe’s leading professional mobility events.

The MUBIL Mobility Awards celebrate their fifth edition in 2025. Over these five years, a total of 212 technology-based projects have been submitted, one third of them from abroad, confirming the competition’s consolidation as an international benchmark in sustainable mobility. Notably, international participation has tripled in the last two years.
