MUBIL Mobility Expo opens its doors, calling for protection and strengthening of the sustainable mobility industry through collaboration

The fifth edition of MUBIL Mobility Expo, an industrial fair increasingly recognised internationally and regarded as a benchmark in Europe for sustainable mobility, opened its doors this morning at Ficoba. The Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, together with the General Deputy of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, officially inaugurated the event, which this year features 110 companies showcasing their latest innovations, technological advances, and trend-setting projects shaping the mobility of the future at the Gipuzkoa exhibition centre.

Opening MUBIL Mobility Expo

In a context of economic and energy uncertainty such as the present, MUBIL Mobility Expo provides a fresh showcase of Euskadi’s industrial, technological, and innovative capabilities, while calling for continued progress in transforming the mobility-related industry through a gradual approach and collaboration between companies, institutions, and economic stakeholders. This edition, held under the motto Mobility That Transforms, will focus on the tangible impact that sustainable mobility—driven by digitalisation and technological innovation—is having on industry, regulation, urban development, and people’s quality of life.

The fair’s opening also saw the participation of the Basque Government’s Minister for Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi, the Director General of MUBIL, Cesar Gutierrez, as well as other institutional and business representatives involved in the sustainable mobility ecosystem.

The fifth edition of MUBIL Mobility Expo, Southern Europe’s professional fair for sustainable mobility, is taking place today and tomorrow (25–26 March) at Ficoba. Since its inaugural edition in 2018, the fair has established itself as a benchmark for the entire smart and sustainable mobility value chain, demonstrating steady growth and notable maturity. A total of 110 companies and organisations are showcasing their products, services, and latest innovations, including automotive manufacturers, electrical equipment suppliers, battery producers, energy providers—covering electricity, oil, gas, and hydrogen—, infrastructure and network companies, service integrators, connectivity, artificial intelligence and big data specialists, public institutions, and fleet operators. Of the participants, 16% are international companies, mainly from France, Germany, and the Netherlands, while 40% come from the rest of Spain and 44% from the Basque Country.

Partner Country: France

One of the main highlights of this edition is the Partner Country initiative, which strengthens the fair’s international profile. This year, it is France’s turn, thanks to a strategic agreement with the French clusters ID4Mobility, NextMove, and CARA. The partnership has enabled the participation of 12 French companies and opens up new opportunities for technological and business cooperation with one of Europe’s most powerful industrial ecosystems in sustainable mobility. For exhibiting companies, it represents a clear opportunity for internationalisation and access to new projects and collaborative networks

The fair has launched a comprehensive strategic programme addressing the key challenges and opportunities in sustainable mobility, bringing together experts, companies and institutions through round tables, sector meetings and specialised forums focused on innovation, energy, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, smart mobility and international cooperation. In addition, the event is reinforcing its position as a leading platform for fostering partnerships and facilitating knowledge exchange among the various stakeholders within the mobility ecosystem. The programme is further enhanced by initiatives designed to connect business solutions with real urban needs, as well as a dynamic demonstration area showcasing innovative technologies and developments shaping the future of mobility.
