City Science Lab Gipuzkoa
This cooperation agreement signed between MUBIL, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and MIT Media Lab will transform the region into an innovation laboratory to test experimental projects related to mobility.
MUBIL, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and the City Science group at the MIT Media Lab signed in February 2023 this cooperation agreement to create City Science Lab Gipuzkoa, to transform the region into an innovation laboratory to test experimental projects related to mobility.
City Science group at MIT Media Lab adds City Science Lab Gipuzkoa to the exclusive collaborative network of MIT-backed cities around the world, including Shanghai, Helsinki, Toronto, Taipei, Hamburg, Guadalajara (Mexico), Andorra, Ho Chi Minh City, and Concepción (Chile).
On the other hand, MUBIL and Tecnun university have signed a collaboration agreement to execute the project, where will be developed the City Scope laboratory in Gipuzkoa and the City Science Lab Gipuzkoa team.
The aim of City Science Lab Gipuzkoa, at these first steps of the project will be to improve the inter-urban connections among cities, adding to the 15 minute cities movement the 20 minute region concept. The project will be developed in close teamwork with MIT Media Lab researchers.
Congress "Reimagining Mobility: Unlocking Open Data in Gipuzkoa"
City Science Lab Gipuzkoa celebrated its first congress the 11th December 2023.
The aim of the congress was to join forces to put together the common objectives of mobility and other mobility impacted sectors like retail, food and elderly among others. With this aim the participants shared their interests and goals and searched for common paths together.
City Science Lab Gipuzkoa project was also shared, together with MUBIL and MIT Media Lab researchers, and was discussed together ways to optimize the use of data to improve the inter and intra urban mobility of the territory.
During the week the MIT Media Lab City Science team also visited several key actors of the territory in mobility: the Road Department in the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, Tecnun (CSLGipuzkoa project collaborator), Tecnalia, Vicomtech and BasqueCCAM.
