The New Mobility Centre has four working areas

A technological laboratory with specific equipment for performing proof-of-concept tests and trials and real-use demonstrations of EVs, services and associated infrastructures.

The infrastructure will house the most advanced technology and will be made available to all agents, operating individually or in partnership, for research into smart and sustainable mobility services and products.

This Laboratory will form the core of the project and will perform scientific-technological development tasks.

Test laboratory
Storage
Communications and energy control electronics
Power electronics and power train.

Demostration area
Subsystem integration and demonstration tests.

The infrastructure will be a reference point, enabling organisations from the technological domain to meet the R&D needs of business, AS MANIFESTED IN the New Mobility Centre.

Equipment currently available:

  • Cell, module and battery pack cyclers
  • Cell and module-type environmental chambers
  • Walk-in climate chamber
  • Calorimeter
  • Battery pack abuse station
  • Vibration bench
  • Altitude chamber
  • Power train test bed
  • Power electronics test bed
  • Traction test bed
  • 3D printer
  • Metrology station
  • Laser welding station

Specialist agent for laboratory management:

Its task is to promote knowledge generation and transfer to the companies. It will provide support to government authorities in establishing coordinated policies and processes for implementing different policies to encourage the greater use of EVs.

Its main areas of intervention are:

●      New mobility observatory
●      Technological intelligence
●      Project coordination and promotion
●      Training and skill-building
●      Establishment of directives for policies to promote smart and sustainable mobility in the Basque Country
●      Social dissemination
●      Showroom
●      International projection

Specialist agent for managing training and skills-building:

Activities will be developed within a PPP framework for developing new businesses related to smart and sustainable mobility.

The Start-Up vision in the area of electric vehicles will extend to other additional EV aspects, such as type, components, business models and management.

Acceleration projects are being developed within a PPP framework to promote new business related to new mobility.

Valorisation of the technological portfolio:

  1. An inventory is drawn up of industrially-owned assets related to smart and sustainable mobility
  2. Nine assets from different technology centres and universities are selected.
    1. Recommendations are offered on the model for transferring the assets at each technology centre.
    2. New business, entrepreneurship and employment models will be generated.

Specialist agent for managing training and skills-building:

The aim is to enable the different agents involved in transport and charging infrastructures to use the facilities to identify new projects and trial new solutions and developments in different contexts: commercial, research and educational.

The charging infrastructure is one of the most important factors in the consolidation of EV use. It is fundamental, since it requires structural support to provide leadership and coordination, as well as harmonising and bringing consistency to the different interventions and technologies required.
